Applying For A New Zealand Student Visa
Applicants should always check with the New Zealand High Commission before submitting your application. Additional information can be located at www.immigration.govt.nz
With the 'Application for Student Visa' you will need to include:
A recent passport-size photograph.
Payment of a non-refundable visa application fee. (CAD$140 money order or certified check made out to New Zealand High Commission)
An 'Offer of Place' from a New Zealand education school or institution which states that you have been accepted by the school, the name of the course, the minimum time to complete the course, whether a course fee is required to be paid or the student is exempt from the fee (e.g. scholarship students). This 'Offer of Place' will be sent to you by the New Zealand institution which has confirmed your enrolment.
Evidence of payment of course tuition fee.
Your original Canadian Immigration document (e.g., Canadian Permanent Resident card; Canadian Landed Immigrant paper)
A guarantee of accommodation. A written assurance from a New Zealand education institution or other persons that suitable accommodation is available to you in New Zealand. Most New Zealand institutions will assist you with accommodation.
Evidence of sufficient funds to cover your living expenses and return travel back to your home country.
You will need to provide medical clearance and character references ONLY for courses which are longer than 24 months. Contact the New Zealand Embassy or High Commission for further information on this.
If your application for a student visa is approved you will need a passport which is valid3 months beyond your initial date of departure from New Zealand.

Each level of education has its own classification: Graduate Diploma: Subclass - 573 Masters or PhD: Subclass - 574
Student Working Visa:
This can be obtained in Australia once you have started your course of study. International students may work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and full time during the holidays.
Medicals and X-rays: - Medical/Chest x-ray are done on a case by case basis.
- If you require a Medical/Chest x-ray you will be contacted by the High Commission.
- All examinations must be completed by an Australian Panel Doctor - The Panel Doctor will submit results directly to the Australian High Commission.
- On-line applications may require medical/x-rays. If you are required to have a medical the Panel Doctor will submit results directly to the Australian High Commission.
4 recent passport photographs (on white background) are required for the Australian student visa.
