Canterbury has all the charm of one of the country's oldest and most historic cities. Dominated by the Cathedral and still surrounded in many places by medieval walls, the city has always been an important business and shopping centre. More recently it has become very much a student city with unusually good academic and social opportunities. Canterbury offers cinemas, studios, museums, libraries, art galleries and bookshops. There are frequent orchestral and choral concerts and performances by leading groups. It is situated in the county of Kent which is described as the Garden of England. It is set in attractive countryside, within a few miles of well-known seaside resorts, the nearest being only seven miles away. There are, therefore, excellent and varied possibilities for local travel, as well as the opportunity to travel to Europe using the Eurostar train or ferry services. |

| The PGCE Primary Course |
The course is offered at the early years(4-8 years) and primary (7-12 years) levels. All courses offer a cohesive and integrated framework which allows a progressive approach to initial teacher education. The aim is to enable the student to develop a range of professional competences which will help them to teach effectively within their chosen age range. During your school experience, the students will meet regularly with the College tutors and school mentors who will offer guidance and support. The course is assessed through written and practical assignments and reflection activities. |
