| The School of Education |
The School of Education and Lifelong Learning is based on the St. Luke's campus, walking distance from the Exeter city centre and the University's Streatham Campus.
St. Luke's has long been the home of teacher training programmes. The School dates back to 1840 under its original name of the Exeter Diocesan Training College. Throughout its impressive history, the School has gained an unparalleled reputation for quality Teacher Training Programmes.
The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) conducts regular school inspections and reviews of teacher training courses. Based on these inspection reports, the Teacher and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) rates the quality of all teacher training courses, giving institutions a letter grade based on the quality of each of their courses - 'A' representing the highest quality.
The University of Exeter is one of only 2 institutions in the country to have 9 or more 'A' rated courses. Only the University of Cambridge shares in this high level of distinction.
The School has also excelled in the 2005 ranking reports, ranked 7th in the Guardian University Guide and 8th in The Times Good University Guide. This marks the 4th straight year the School has ranked in the top 10 of both reports. No other institution can match this high level of consistency and achievement. |
