Four scholarships in the amount of NZ$2300 are awarded annually to Teach applicants for the Primary program at either Palmerston North or Massey Auckland.
Massey is New Zealand's largest, most diverse and accessible university. It has three campuses in three North Island cities offering more than 120 degrees, certificates and diplomas.
The University has five academic colleges including the Colleges of Business, Creative Arts, Education, Humanities & Social Sciences and Sciences. The College of Education is located at the Auckland and Palmerston North campuses.
Massey was the first New Zealand university to introduce undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in professional education, and today offers the widest range of flexible, multi-mode advanced courses and programmes. | Living in Palmerston North |
Fondly known as Palmy, the Student City, this vibrant young person's city offers students affordable accommodation, great bars, restaurants, internet cafes, parks, sporting centres and indoor pools. For the adventurous, there are challenging mountain bike tracks, bungy-jumping, river kayaking, and equestrian centres.
Palmerston North's central North Island location is conveniently close to several west coast beaches, the Hawkes Bay wine region, skiing and snowboarding at Mt. Ruapehu and is only a 90 minute drive to the country's capital city, Wellington. The international airport operates regular flights to Australia. |

| Teacher Education is offered at two campuses |
The Massey Auckland campus at Albany, offers stunning Spanish-architectural styled buildings with state-of-the-art facilities, free parking and a unique atmosphere highly conducive to study. Most classes are small, teaching is interactive, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.
Albany in which the campus is located has a wide range of amenities, numerous cafes, shopping centres, cinema complexes, art galleries, libraries, a newly-opened Theatre of the Arts and extensive leisure and sport facilities. Downtown Auckland is a short 20 minute ride across the harbour bridge. The North Shore City itself is served by a motorway linking it with Auckland, and the International Airport as well as major rail and ferry links. City bus services are efficient, well developed and relatively inexpensive.
Primary courses are offered at Albany and Palmerston North. Teaching experience includes placement days of one day a week in a base school and also four postings in four different schools at different levels.
The Massey Palmerston North campus is a centre of excellence for education with several tertiary and research institutions. , is often referred to as the 'knowledge city' . This is the original home of Massey University and today offers students from around the world an opportunity to obtain a quality, research-lead education.
The Campus is set among beautiful park-like grounds. Split by Manawatu River into two sites Turitea and Hokowhitu, this bicycle-friendly campus is within easy access of the city with free public bus transportation. Sport and off-campus adventure feature big in student life here. The Institute of Sport & Rugby is on the Turitea campus with a new all-weather athletics track. The Hokowhitu site is the heart of the University's education studies and features modern buildings in a picturesque setting sandwiched between a lush golf course and a lagoon.
Primary and Secondary courses are offered in Palmerston North. The primary program is also offered in the Albany campus.
Primary teaching experience includes placement days of one day a week in a base school and also four postings in four different schools at different levels.
Secondary teaching experience is made up of 15 weeks in three different schools. |
