University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland

About Glasgow
The University of Strathclyde was founded in 1796. It has two campuses - the John Anderson Campus in downtown Glasgow and the Jordanhill Campus in the west end of the city. Strathclyde is Scotland's third largest university with a population of 13,000 students - a population which includes representation from over 90 countries. It has gained a reputation as Scotland's most dynamic and innovative university, with a proven record of excellence in teaching.

With a population of 660,000, Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and third largest in the UK. It offers plenty of opportunities for theatre, restaurants, pubs, music, art galleries, and cinema. Even in the heart of the city, you are never far from the glorious Scottish countryside. Loch Lomond is a 40 minute drive. Glasgow is ideally situated for travelling throughout the UK; it is five hours by train from London and one hour from Edinburgh. There are direct flights to Glasgow from Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver, and, of course, to several European cities. "Glasgow is a big cosmopolitain city, but the friendliness of the people makes it seem like a small community."
On Campus
The 67-acre Jordanhill campus overlooks the West End of the city of Glasgow and offers not only academic excellence, but a wide range of recreational and support services for students. Students can find everything they need on campus: swimming pools, gymnasium, and sports facilities. Jordanhill also offers an excellent library, bank, bookshop, campus store, cafeteria, coffee shop and pub. Students may, of course, use the facilities of the downtown campus.

Testimonials
Teaching science has been fantastic. I really enjoy this work and most of what comes with it. TEACH was a terrific opportunity. If I backtracked and someone offered me the choice of training at any school in Canada or at Strathclyde, I'd clearly go to Scotland again.

Isobel Donaldson
Attending the PGDE Primary program at the University of Strathclyde was one of the best educational and life decisions I have made. The program challenged me and helped define me as a teacher and educator. I was able to combine by passion for teaching with my desire for adventure and to travel. My qualifications are convertible across many countries and fuel my passion to educate and inspire on an international scale. I will treasure my time in at Strathclyde, the friends that I have made and my education for the rest of my life.
