Since its establishment in 1592, Trinity College Dublin has welcomed students from all over the world. Trinity is situated on a beautiful historic 15 hectare campus in the heart of Ireland’s vibrant capital city, Dublin. With over 15,000 students, including 2,300 students from over 90 different countries and 30% of staff from outside Ireland, Trinity offers an exciting international education experience. 

With over 400 undergraduate and postgraduate programs to choose from and the opportunity to take electives outside of your specialisation, students are able to pursue their study and research within one of Europe’s most beautiful campus settings. State of the art libraries, laboratories and IT facilities stand alongside historic buildings and whilst Trinity has a long and proud tradition in the arts and social sciences, it is also at the centre of cutting edge research in neuroscience and host to the Irish Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. School of Education
School of Education is one of the major professional schools in the university with current student enrolment standing at around 700.  The School is committed to engaging with educational issues through teaching and high quality research which permeates teaching at postgraduate level.  The purpose of the course is to prepare candidates for teaching at the Secondary level.
Secondary Program only
The Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary Teaching) is a one year, full time, postgraduate course. Students attend College for all or some of the days in the week and are otherwise in schools undertaking teaching practice (TP). This combination allows an integration of theory and practice. Applicants must be university graduates with a four year honors degree .
Secondary subjects offered are ?/strong>
  • Business Studies;
  • English;
  • Geography;
  • History;
  • Irish;
  • Mathematics;
  • Modern Languages;
  • Music;
  • Religious Education and Science.

Students must choose two pedagogy subjects. The first or major subject should be whatever was indicated on your application form: the subject that you intend to teach full-time when your studies are complete. The second (minor) subject should be chosen from a range of possible subjects that do not clash with your major on the timetable.

Teaching Practice ?carried out in Dublin schools.

Students are required to be present in their Teaching Practice School on Monday mornings, and on Thursdays and Fridays. Students must teach a minimum number of classes in their major subject during these times.
