University of Western Australia

The University of Western Australia was established in 1911. It aims to be recognized internationally as an excellent research-intensive university and a leading intellectual and creative resource to the communities it serves. The University of Western Australia won an Australian University Teaching Award for its innovative and practical approach to the provision of educational services to the local and regional community. The University of Western Australia fosters an international focus for all its activities and standards as an integral part of its overriding commitment to excellence and high quality. There are 17,000 students enrolled in U.W.A. University.

Living in Perth

Perth is the capital city of Western Australia and is located on the south-west coast of the Australian continent. Perth's sunny Mediterranean climate provides for a wide variety of outdoor activities such as sailing, swimming and windsurfing. The city centre provides for excellent shopping, as well as a vast range of restaurants, nightlife and entertainment. The Faculty of Education

For almost ninety years, the Faculty of Education has served the educational needs of the people of Western Australia and made its mark in the field of international scholarship. The faculty is committed to ensuring its strong international identity and status as a centre of innovative teaching practices, developing new programs and research initiatives.

Secondary programs only are offered at UWA Graduate School of Education

High School Subjects:

- Physics - Geography
- History - Politics
- Legal Studies - Physical Education
The Graduate Diploma in Education course is for students with a relevant Bachelor's Degree who wish to qualify as a secondary teacher. The intake for the course is only at the beginning of the year and may be completed in one full year. The Graduate Diploma in Education offers Canadian students the opportunity to specialize in Mathematics and Science.
Campus & Accommodations

The University is ideally located on the banks of the Swan River in one of Perth's most respectable suburbs, 5km from the city centre of Perth. The main campus is within walking distance of Kings Park, a 400-hectare park. With over 12,000 students and 2,500 staff enjoying the beautiful Crawley campus, complete with cafés, libraries, sporting facilities, an art gallery, museums, and a range of shops, UWA is more like a small town than a school. The campus has a vibrant social atmosphere with many exciting and stimulating activities.

There are five residential colleges and halls affiliated with, or owned by, the University and they are conveniently located adjacent to the campus. Some students may prefer to lease or rent their own accommodation in an area close to the University.
